A day is enough to see Tigoni, but a night lets you slow down: an evening by the fire, and the tea fields in early morning light before the day-trippers arrive. Here is a simple two-day plan.
Where to stay
Choose based on who you are travelling with. Brackenhurst suits groups and families, with rooms and cottages in replanted forest. Thayu Farm Hotel and The Kentmere Club are small country hotels near Limuru. For couples and friends, private cottages and cabins on farms around Tigoni are listed on the main booking platforms.
Nights are cold at this altitude, especially from June to August. Check that your room has a fireplace or heating.

Day one: arrive, walk and settle in
- Morning: drive up from Nairobi, leaving before 8:00 to beat the traffic.
- Late morning: a guided tea farm walk or hike to get your bearings.
- Lunch: a farm lunch at Brown's or a pre-booked tea farm lunch.
- Afternoon: check in, then a short walk near where you are staying.
- Evening: dinner where you are staying, and an early night.

Day two: ride, eat and head home
- Early morning: walk out into the tea while it is still misty.
- 9:00: a two-hour guided e-bike ride on the farm roads.
- Late morning: coffee at a garden café such as Muna Tree at Brackenhurst.
- Lunch: somewhere new, then shop for farm produce at the roadside stalls.
- Afternoon: leave by 16:00 to reach Nairobi before the evening rush.

A weekend for a special occasion
Tigoni is a popular choice for birthdays, anniversaries and small celebrations. If you want everything arranged together, such as an activity, a lunch booking and transport for a group, a custom day saves you coordinating several places yourself. Tell us the date, group size and what you have in mind, and we will send a quote.
What to pack
- Warm layers for evenings and early mornings.
- A rain jacket in March–May and October–December.
- Closed shoes that can get muddy.
- Cash and M-Pesa for stalls and small shops.
