Team days work best when people do something together that they would not do at the office. Tigoni offers that within an hour of Nairobi: fresh air, tea country and activities that work for colleagues of all fitness levels. Here is how to plan one.
What makes a good team day
The best outdoor team days are inclusive, not competitive. Choose activities where everyone can take part, build in time to talk, and keep the logistics invisible so people can relax. Tigoni's walks and rides are well suited: they are sociable and memorable without being extreme.
Activities that work for teams
- Guided hikes on farm tracks and forest paths, which suit groups of any size and mixed fitness.
- E-bike rides in groups of up to six, rotating for larger teams.
- A tea farm walk, which doubles as a learning session about one of Kenya's biggest exports.

Combining work and the outdoors
Many teams hold a morning meeting or workshop at a venue with conference facilities, such as a retreat centre or country hotel near Tigoni, and go outside in the afternoon. Others reverse it: an activity first, when energy is high, and a relaxed discussion over lunch.

Planning checklist
- Confirm numbers early; large groups may need to be split across activities.
- Ask about dietary needs and accessibility.
- Arrange a bus or minibus from the office.
- Have a wet-weather plan, especially in March–May and October–December.
- Give at least two weeks' notice for weekday groups and more for weekends.
How we help
Our custom days are built for this. Send the date, group size and goals for the day, and we will suggest a plan with activities, lunch and transport, and a single quote for the group.
