If you want a date that feels like a proper escape without a long drive, Tigoni is hard to beat. Within an hour of Nairobi you can be walking through tea fields, eating lunch in a garden and watching the light change over the hills. Here is how to plan a day for two.
Start with something active
A shared activity gives the day a shape and something to talk about over lunch. A two-hour e-bike ride is a favourite with couples: the electric assistance means neither of you has to be fitter than the other, and you cover a lot of beautiful country. A guided tea walk is slower and more conversational.

A long lunch
Lunch is the centrepiece of a romantic day in Tigoni. Book ahead at a farm restaurant or garden café, ask for an outdoor table if the weather is good, and do not rush. A cheese farm lunch or a tea farm tour with lunch makes the meal an experience in itself.

Find a quiet view
After lunch, take a slow walk. Lake Tigoni is a quiet spot, and many farm lanes have long views across the tea. Late afternoon light is the softest of the day.

Make it an overnight stay
Staying the night turns a date into a getaway. Look for a cottage with a fireplace; the evenings are cold and a fire is part of the charm. The next morning, walk out into the tea while the mist is still lifting before anyone else is about.

Planning for an anniversary or proposal
If you are marking an occasion, a custom day lets us put the pieces together: an activity, a lunch booking, a quiet spot and timing that suits you. Tell us what you have in mind and we will keep it discreet.
